Eldest citizen turns 103

Ms Annette on the day of her 103rd birthdayHaving already been awarded recognition as the eldest person in her home district previously, Ms Annette celebrated her 103rd birthday in the company of her closest, namely her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as other members of her family and close friends.

This took shape in the form of a reception organized by her granddaughter, well-known basketball player Williana Dubois, at her premises at La Gogue, Anse Etoile.

The reception was also attended by the former bishop of the Anglican Church, French Chang-Him and a small entourage from the Anglican Church, who blessed and prayed for the health and wellbeing of Ms Annette.

She said that Ms Annette’s husband passed away quite a while ago and that her grandmother chose to take back her maiden name after a while.

“She is still referred to as Mrs Dubois by many people,” she explained, “but she prefers her maiden name”.

Ms Dubois also told Nation that despite her age, her grandmother still does her daily chores by herself at her house at Corgate Estate.

“She’s really robust for her age,” she noted.

Seychelles Nation also spoke to Ms Annette’s youngest daughter, Josephine Dubois (Willianna’s mother), during the reception. The 66-year-old revealed that all five of her mother’s siblings are still alive, although some of them appear not to be as tough as their mother.

She noted that her mother is the sole remaining member of her family of six.
