Mason’s treats less privileged children to reef safari excursion |07 September 2013

Over 50 excited children and their home supervisors boarded Mason’s Travel catamaran Anahita at theMarine Charter yesterday morning for a day reef safari excursion in the marine park.

Mason’s Travel hosted the excursion for children of the President’s Village, Foyer de Nazareth, Foyer de la Solitude and Foyer de la Providence as part of its collaboration and partnership with the Seychelles Children’s Foundation.

Lenny Alvis, a senior manager and head of operations at Mason’s Travel, was at the Marine Charter to see the children off.

“Apart from being fun-filled, the trip will also be a very informative one,” Mr Alvis said.

Once onboard the excited passengers headed towards the marine park for a guided tour which included fish feeding.

Mason’s Travel had also provided a large crew to ensure the children’s safety on the trip.

After a special lunch, prepared by Anahita’s own chef, the children headed to Moyenne island where they were divided into two groups.

Those aged between 10 and 15 years were taken round the island on a guided tour, after which they could ask questions and be questioned on their trip to test their understanding about the information passed on to them about the marine park and Moyenne island.

Children aged between five and nine years old stayed on the beach where they were given a little history about Moyenne island.

The organisers had also planned a treasure hunt activity on the island among other fun activities which included a visit to the chapel.

A Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) TV crew accompanied the children on their trip to record a feature film to be screened later in the popular Jojo & Friends TV programme.

Mr Alvis noted that the company is planning to have similar activities for other groups of children in society in the future. Such initiatives are very much appreciated by the Children’s Home Foundation.
