CWS pledges support to Regatta 2013 |28 September 2013

Cable and Wireless Seychelles (CWS) will once more be showing its support to the Round Table Seychelles at this year’s Regatta, which is being held this weekend.

The company has been supporting the event for over two decades, making significant contributions to charitable causes over the years and diversifying its support with time.

“As has been customary in recent years, we will have the lucky dip that many people look forward to whereby the proceeds go back to the community,” said CWS PR manager, Terry Servina.

“And we will also be sponsoring the beach volleyball, which is a popular sport yet to gain the popularity it deserves in Seychelles,” he added.

The proceeds from the lucky dip will go to the Seychelles Round Table. Last year Cable and Wireless donated R35,000 to the Round Table Seychelles, of which around R20,000 was collected from the lucky dip and R15,000 was a direct donation from the company.

“When we participate we place more emphasis on the underlying purpose of Regatta, which, in a nutshell, is to raise funds for a charitable cause,” explained Mr Servina.
“This year we have already donated R20,000 and we anticipate yet another increase in the lucky dip stall.”

“Regatta is also about having fun,” he said, “which is why CWS will also be hosting the beach volley ball tournament today and tomorrow.”

One of the company’s core values is to play an active and significant role in the community.  A value which Mr Servina said drives them as a company and as socially responsible employees to give support to events and charitable organisations other than Regatta and the Seychelles Round Table Seychelles.

“Our customers can also rest assured that there will be CWS services throughout the whole weekend for their benefit,” he stated.

“We wish to continue giving support to the Regatta in the years to come and hope that our contribution can continue making an impact in the lives of Seychellois.”
