Vice Admiral Satish Soni, PVSM, AVSM, NM Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command Indian Navy has met Vice-President Danny Faure, Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Paul Adam and Chief of Defence Forces, Brigadier Leopold Payet.
During the meetings various avenues for enhancing cooperation in the fields of maritime safety, anti-piracy measures and maritime training were discussed.
Mr Soni is here on a four-day visit.
The Southern Naval Command is also the training command of the Indian navy where a large number of personnel from the Seychelles Coast Guard have undertaken their basic and advanced training in diverse fields.
The first Training Squadron of the Indian navy comprising Indian naval ships Sharda, Gharial, Tarangini and Indian coast ship Varuna are also in Seychelles. Their visit coincides with that of the
Commander-in-Chief.
