Vice-President meets long serving retirees |11 October 2013

Vice-President Danny Faure yesterday met four long serving retirees to thank them for their loyalty and devotion throughout their careers.

The old-timers are Clement Biong from the Seychelles Qualifications Authority, who clocked 26 years of service in the education sector; Doria Zab, who served 35 years in the public service – 25 years in Tax and the last 10 years with the Postal Services; Marina Govinden and Jeanne D’arc Meriton, both from the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) with 40 and 42 years of service respectively.

VP Faure thanked the retirees on behalf of President James Michel for their service and their devotion they had shown to be able to serve for many years.

Also present at yesterday’s ceremony held at State House were Jeanne Simeon, principal secretary in the Office of the Vice-President; Jessie Esparon, chief secretary for Public Service; Gilbert Faure, chief executive of SCAA; Barbara Esther, director for operations at the Seychelles Postal Services and Fiona Ernesta from Aldec (Adult Learning and Distance Education Centre).

VP Faure presented the retirees each with a little token as a gesture of appreciation for their long years of service and loyalty towards their job.

Talking to the press the retirees expressed their appreciation for the gesture, saying it shows that the government recognises their effort and their hard work.

“I ask the youth of today not to give up quickly because everywhere one works one will always encounter difficulties. But the important thing is to learn to adapt to changes and be patient, because patience and perseverance can bring one far in life,” Mrs Meriton advised.

As for Mrs Zab, she had this to say: “Turn your entire task into challenges. Remember that all types of job has their place in society, find a job that you will love and enjoy doing.”
