NCC gives Easter party to underprivileged kids |08 April 2013

Thirty children from underprivileged backgrounds were treated to a fun-filled (albeit belated) Easter party at the National Council for Children (NCC) yesterday.

The children showed great enthusiasm in taking part in the many activities on offer, including pass-the-parcel, face-painting, Easter-egg hunts, musical chairs and pin-the-tail-on-the-bunny.

NCC staff members, volunteers and sponsors were on hand to keep the children well-entertained and the delicious food and beverages from the sponsors set the tone for a fun-filled party atmosphere.

“Whenever organisations do parties, it’s usually for children who live in children’s homes or other institutions, and they do get a lot of parties,” explained Ruby Pardiwalla, director of the NCC.
 
“We wanted to do something different and reach out to other kids, who are living with their families but are not as privileged or deal with difficult situations. We wanted to let them come for a day out and enjoy themselves thoroughly.”

Christophe Martel, key account manager at luxury brand importer ISPC, said that sponsoring this event was part of a long working relationship with the NCC as part of the ISPC’s social corporate responsibility programme.

“It’s not the first time we have joined together with the NCC to sponsor events and it will not be the last either,” said Mr Martel.
“We are looking forward to doing this again at the end of the year, as we are planning an amazing Christmas party for the kids.”

The NCC is a registered non-governmental organisation and has been an active advocate for the rights of children. The NCC has also been vocal in its denunciation of child abuse and has worked to raise public awareness on issues related to the well-being of children.
