Cultural show to kick off Pre-Youth Festival on Praslin

Youths from Praslin will have an avant-goût of the main Youth Festival during a Pre-Youth Festival to be held on the weekend of July 23 to 25.
An array of cultural, educational and sporting activities is expected to take place at the Baie Ste Anne and Grand Anse playing fields during the three-day festival, which has become an annual event on the calendar of activities of the youth department within the Ministry of Education and Youth.

The Pre-Youth Festival is aimed at decentralising the event and giving youths from Praslin the chance to participate more actively.
The festival, which will start with an official opening ceremony at the Grand Anse playing field on Friday July 23, is to showcase the talents of young Praslinois artists and youth groups through cultural displays.
A youth bazaar will follow the opening ceremony. On sale will be artifacts made by young Praslinois entrepreneurs.

The festival will continue on Saturday with a mini-conference in the morning at the Casinos des Iles at Côte d’Or. The conference will have for theme “Youth embracing traditional and moral values” and it will be conducted by Emmanuel Toussaint, Secretary General of the National Youth Council.

A variety show by different youth groups on Praslin will wrap up the day.
The festival will end on Sunday with a series of sports and leisure activities at the Baie Ste Anne playing field.
The organising committee is calling on all Praslin youths to participate actively in the event, which is an opportunity for them to show their talents and creativity.  Youths are being urged to contact their respective youth workers for any queries.
