South African Weightlifting Championship-Seychellois lifters total 12 medals |07 July 2004

Beau Vallon Secondary School's Kethsia Télémaque won three gold medals in the junior 48-kg division, snatching 45kg and lifting 57.5kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 102.5kg.

Competing in the 75-kg division, former Sportslady of the Year Janet Thélermont totalled 225kg with 100kg in the snatch and 125kg in the clean and jerk to win three gold medals.

Elvis Jeanne also claimed a hat-trick of medals of the gold hue with lifts of 120kg in the snatch and 152kg in the clean and jerk for an Olympic total of 272kg in the 94-kg division.

The other gold medal was won by Charles Siméon, who clean and jerked 150kg in the 77-kg category.

Competing in only his second competition after having served a two-year ban imposed by the International Weightlifting Federation, Siméon snatched 100kg, 30kg less than a South African opponent who also recorded 145kg in the clean and jerk.
