Forum to spotlight Public Service Day

The forum, to be held at the National Institute of Education auditorium starting at 9 a.m., will include speeches by both the minister and principal secretary for the Ministry of Administration and Manpower Development, Noellie Alexander and Mohammed Afif, respectively.

Officials at the forum will also outline the basis for the launching of the Seychelles Public Service Awards, as well as a public competition for the development of a logo to represent the event.

The Public Service Awards, an initiative designed to showcase excellence in public administration, aims to encourage public organisations to strive for quality and competency in the delivery of their services, according to the ministry.

This year will mark the first launching of the awards, which will take place in July 2005. Winners will be eligible to take part in the Commonwealth Association of Public Administration Management Awards and the United Nations Public Service Awards.

The logo competition, open to all Seychelles residents, will provide the award
Monday’s forum will also feature a discussion, chaired by Auditor General Marc Benstrong, on the promotion of ethics in the public service and issues related to the development of a mechanism for public asset declaration. This will be followed by a presentation from Daniella Larue of the Public Service Development Division and an open discussion.
