Following his accreditation Bishop Kasujja, who is the fifth apostolic nuncio from the Vatican, paid a courtesy call on Vice-President Joseph Belmont.

Bishop Kasujja, who replaces Bishop Bruno Musaro, will be based in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

Speaking to the press after his meetings, Bishop Kasujja expressed his satisfaction with the existing relations between the Roman Catholic Mission of Seychelles and the State, and said he was happy to note that both institutions were working towards building a good foundation for moral values to flourish among young people.

The promotion of good values and the defence of human values, he said, were two key areas of cooperation between the Vatican and the Church here which should be strengthened at State level.

"Both the Church and the State should continue to work together to see to it that moral values are instilled in young people so that they become good citizens," Bishop Kasujja said.

The Bishop said that through the Church, he hoped to assist in the implementation of the State-run moral values and religious programme in schools.

Bishop Kasujja, who is of Ugandan origin, was ordained priest in 1973 and was assigned to the services of diplomacy at the Vatican in 1977. He was consecrated as Bishop in 1998.
