According to Seychelles Football Federation's (SFF) vice-chairman Hugh Adam, all Seychelles teams will be coached by locals and Shungu’s role will be to oversee the preparations of the different selections.

Already, two Seychelles selections are training in preparation for international competitions.

The under 17 team, under coach Marc Mathiot and assistant Fernand Gamatis, are training for the Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l'Océan indien  (CJSOI) competition in Madagascar scheduled for later this month.

As for the under 20 team, with Ralph 'Tiapout' Jean-Louis as coach and Bernard Dorasamy and Rajack Ramjauny as his assistants, they are to take part in the Cosafa Cup in South Africa in December.

Adam added that the senior side will participate in the Cosafa Castle Cup next year.
Also, the federation is more equipped to serve footballers and officials said Adam, describing the process as "strategic and continual."

"Coach Shungu was impressed to see that we have our own buses, meaning that we can collect the young players to bring them to training and back to their homes. A technical committee works towards organising youth tournaments and select players for future Seychelles teams.

The young players have all they want to play football and we even provide all schools with equipment like football boots, uniform and cones to train their players," said Adam.

Young players are being asked to train seriously and as an incentive, two of the best will follow two months training with Italian second division side Cremonezi.

This, according to SFF chairman Suketu Patel, should motivate young footballers as "training with professionals is likely to be an unbelievable experience and there is the possibility of making a career as a pro."

Like for the coaches, Seychellois are responsible for other aspects in the country’s football development.

Ulric Mathiot will, on a part-time basis, coordinate all training within the SFF.

Local instructors George Bibi, Wilbert Omath and Eddie Maillet ran a half-day course for referees, and commissioners last Saturday.

Another two commissioners – Roch Henriette and Frank Aglaé – are to follow an FA instructor’s course soon, while Derrick Sauzier attended a first aid course in Tunisia recently.
