Cycling: 34.2-km team time-trial-PLS Riders triumph |27 September 2004
While more than half of the country’s cyclists were not their bikes for Saturday’s race, others tried to make things interesting and competitive on the roads.
Only two teams – PLS Riders and Vélo Club de Mahé – took the start of the 34.2-km team time-trial.
PLS Riders, with Brian Sinon, Francis Louis and Hudson Mathieu as teammates, won in 47 minutes 25.08 seconds (47:25.08).
It is worth noting that PLS Riders won the first team time-trial of the season on Saturday July 10 with a time of 47:21.73.
The trio of Nelson Rose, Roy Mougal and Alex Savy of Vélo Club de Mahé settled for second place with 50:24.38.
Teams need to have a minimum of three cyclists in team time-trials and all three team members must finish the race for the team’s time to be counted.
This is the reason why St Francis could not participate. Only two of their cyclists – Ricky Rosalie and Jim Melanie – were present at the starting line.
In the Cadet category, Team A comprising Leeroy Labiche, France Anacoura, Raoul Gomme, Hendricks Esparon and Charles Siméon won the 17.1-km race in 26:29.64.
Second in 29:11.29 were Team B made up of Terrence Bijoux, Uni Pharabeau, Leslie Siméon, Ricky Servina and Norris Guichard.
