Tidal waves affect Indian Ocean countries-President Michel shares nations’ grief |28 December 2004

In his messages sent to the presidents of India, the Maldives, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Prime Minister of Malaysia and King of Thailand, President Michel says:

“It is with great sadness and profound sorrow that we have learnt of the massive tidal waves that ravaged the coasts of (your respective country), resulting in the loss of so many innocent lives and causing extensive material damages. We share your grief.

“In the wake of this tragedy, the Government and people of Seychelles join me in expressing our heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences to you, the government and people of (your respective country) and the families of the victims.

“We wish to assure you, (Mr President/Prime Minister/Your Majesty), of our solidarity in this moment of national grief and mourning and we wish the relief agencies every success and courage in the remedy of this unfortunate situation.”
