Mancham sends message of hope to Seychellois people

Mr Mancham

Mr Mancham’s message reads:
“Much can be said about the events of the last few days where a life has been taken away and properties lost or severely damaged as the result of the tidal waves and the heavy rains that affected our small country.

“My thoughts and prayers are with all of you today, as we move from one year to another and think ahead of how we can contribute in the rebuilding efforts of our beloved islands.

“I would also like to pay tribute to the men and women who risked their own lives to save others, our police and army, the volunteers, doctors and nurses, environment workers, land transport, PUC and employees of public service departments who came together under huge constraints to restore essential services to the community.

“The tragedy that hit the Indian Ocean is the worst in recent memory and I further extend my sincere condolence to our brothers and sisters of the ten countries affected.

“As we enter the New Year, in this state of anxiety and suspense, we should equally look at the positive picture with hope and conviction that 2005 would bring better lives to our population.

“In this spirit of unity, I wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year and may the Almighty guide us in this moment of exceptional turbulence.”
