Year 2005 calendars are out

Samples of calendars produced for 2005

On Friday December 31 when Business Nation toured Victoria to take pictures of calendars on sale, we were informed that the existing stock had either been completely sold out or had been damaged by the flooding in Victoria caused by the tidal surges and heavy rains.

The saleslady at St Fidèle, one of the key shops for calendars, said their stock was destroyed when water flooded their store on Albert Street, but gave her assurances that a new stock was to be brought in by today or later during the week.

Similar to past years, numerous companies, such as State Assurance Corporation of Seychelles (SACOS), Development Bank of Seychelles (DBS), Barclays Bank (Sey), Seychelles Marketing Board (SMB), Air Seychelles and the Alliance of Solidarity for the Family (ASFF) have this year come out with a wide selection of colourful wall and desk calendars ideal for homes and offices.

Major printing company, Printec Press Holdings at Mont Fleuri, has confirmed to have printed over 15,000 copies of 2005 calendars for some 10 companies and individuals.

The calendars showcase various interesting themes such as the different facets of our culture, the beauty of our nature, the lives of our people, among others.

SMB's wall calendar for instance is aimed to be a reminder of the company's local products and to send out the message of its presence in everyday life in Seychelles and among all age groups and segments of the society.

Air Seychelles' desk calendar depicts life on the outer islands, Creole architecture, Creole spices, the market place, traditional dances and sculptures from Seychelles' professional artists.
