Tennis: Open African Qualifying Junior Championship-Markhous Kanté and Julie to defend Seychelles' colours |04 January 2005
According to John Adam, chairman of the Seychelles Tennis Association (STA), Kanté and Julie will compete in the annual competition between January 6 and 13 in Pretoria, South Africa.
The two players, accompanied by local coach Steven Rideau-Mein, are to leave the country Tuesday January 4.
While in Pretoria, the two players will be all out to book their tickets for the forthcoming All-Africa Junior Tennis Championship to be held in neighbouring Mauritius in April.
Markhous Kanté is to compete in the U18 category, while Julie will play in the U14 division.
All African countries who are members of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) are expected to be represented in the week-long annual tournament.
The Seychelles delegation is expected back on January 13.
