President appoints new Central Bank board |25 February 2005

Board members are from both the private and public sectors and will serve for a period of six years. 

CBS Governor Francis Chang-Leng is the chairman of the Board and the four directors are Mr Errol Dias, Mr Francis Chang Sam, Mr Jean Weeling and Mr Wilfred Jackson. 

The Board held its first meeting on Thursday afternoon. 

The President made the appointments under the Central Bank Act  2004 which came into effect in December last year making the financial institution an independent body. It has also modernised and reinforced its advisory role to the Government.
