Football: Cosafa Castle Cup-Matches live of SuperSport

Seychelles players will have to play two matches in two days if they beat South Africa on Saturday

South African sports channel SuperSport will provide live coverage of the regional tournament after obtaining the rights to broadcast all the matches.

Seychelles’ match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the George V Stadium in Mauritius will be shown on SuperSport 3, starting at 1.45 p.m. on Saturday.

The second group A clash between Mauritius and Madagascar will be on SuperSport 5 at 4 p.m. Sunday’s final between the two winners will also be live on SuperSport 5, starting at 3.15 p.m.

All times are Seychelles times.

It is to note that the Seychelles team left for Mauritius on Thursday for their debut in the Cosafa Castle Cup.

Captained by experienced goalkeeper Nelson Sopha, Seychelles will be looking to shock South Africa who were eliminated by Mauritius on a 2-0 score in last year’s edition of the annual competition.

The pressure will be on South Africa to renew with victory and Seychelles need to be composed to try and unsettle the makeshift Bafana Bafana, who will be without their stars playing in big European clubs.

South Africa’s assistant coach and former Bafana Bafana skipper Steve Komphela, who guided the country’s under-20 team, Amajita, to triumph in the Cosafa Cup last year, had this to say to the South African media this week:
“We want to beat Seychelles and qualify for the group final the next day (Sunday). But it won’t be the end of the world if we come unstuck.”

Playing two international matches in as many days will be tough on the Seychelles players physically and mentally. Despite that, Seychelles need to be up to the challenge to clear the hurdles in their way in a bid to advance to the final mini-tournament in August.
