Regatta 2005 set for July 30, 31-Organisers bring back Miss Regatta beauty contest |05 May 2005

Among the highlights of this year’s edition of this popular beachside festival will be the Miss Regatta beauty contest, which will be making its comeback after being absent for several years now on the programme of activities.

Young Seychellois ladies aged between 18 to 30 years are being encouraged to partake in the pageant which will take place on Friday July 22 at the International Conference Centre (ICCS).

Registration forms can be collected at Telly’s Modelling Agency office, Room 108, Premier Building and must be returned to the same venue by May 15.
According to Mr Andy Moncherry of the Seychelles Round Table, the organizers of Regatta, the aim of organising the pageant “is to bring together a celebration of youth, fashion and design, music, beauty and the promotion of Seychelles Round Table Association in its various charitable activities organised here.”

Besides the beauty pageant the other activities which will feature on this year’s Regatta programme include the usual sports events such as the boxing tournament, volleyball and traditional games like tug of war, raft race and pillow fight, among many others.

As usual there will be game stalls to add much to the fun.

Another highlight of the festival will be the lottery draw in which 20 interesting prizes will be up for grabs, with the star prize being a Ford Ranger 4x4 twin cab sponsored by Seychelles Round Table and Hunt Deltel.

Other prizes include a computer and printer, return tickets to Singapore, trip on catamaran, cash and electronic appliances, among others.

Tickets for the lottery are on sale at R10 at various outlets.

The lottery draw will take place on Sunday July 31 at 6 p.m.

Members of the public are being urged to participate fully in the activities being organized.

Proceeds from this year’s event will be used to refurbish the Les Cannelles Psychiatric Hospital.
