National Museum of History launches holiday programme |05 May 2005

Aged between 6 and 18 years, the youngsters, dressed in their new t-shirts made especially for the occasion, were first briefed on the proposed activities for this year, before watching the film Castor.

Apart from the usual visits to historical monuments, this year children from the National Museum of History club will take part in a series of traditional games at Port Launay beach on May 11.

Another interesting activity on the programme is a three-day visit to Silhouette set for the August school holidays.

According to assistant museum curator Jeanne Pothin, who is also the club’s educational officer, the aim of these activities is to help boost the children’s personal development and also to complement their studies at school, especially with regard to the history of Seychelles.

At Wednesday’s event the children, some of whom were accompanied by their parents, also had the opportunity to give suggestions on how to better the programme.
The museum activities take place on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.
