Bodybuilding-Open Bodybuilding Championship cancelled |09 May 2005

Sabba chairman Marcel Ally told Sports Nation Sunday May 8 that he was disappointed with the turnout and the association has decided to cancel the event scheduled for this Saturday.

“We can’t run a competition with just three bodybuilders. It costs a lot to rent a venue and I just don’t understand why local bodybuilders make life difficult for everyone involved in the sport. We had already drafted the calendar for the 2005 season and all bodybuilders were aware of the dates of the contests. It’s just disappointing to work with athletes who don’t take their sport seriously,” said Ally, himself a former bodybuilder.

With the cancellation of the Open Bodybuilding Championship, Sabba will organise two more competitions - Night of the Champion and the Mr Seychelles contest - on July 23 and September 24 respectively.
