Barclays backs SCAA’s denial of Seychelles Weekly article |11 May 2005

''Barclays does not, as a matter of policy, finance arms sales nor support the financing of equipment with an aggressive capability. The agreed facility with the Government of Seychelles purely relates to supporting renewal of fire fighting capabilities,'' says a statement from Barclays.

In a communiqué published in Tuesday’s Seychelles Nation, the SCAA denied the allegations contained in the Seychelles Weekly article and also confirmed that the loan facility “is for the provisions of fire fighting equipment, vehicles and other rescue equipment, inclusive of training of personnel”.
