Tourism advisory committee members announced-Hold first meeting Thursday |12 May 2005

The 20-member committee is headed by Tourism and Transport principal secretary Gerard Lafortune, the man who also chairs the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) and the Seychelles Port Authority (SPA).

Tac's first meeting takes place Thursday  at the International Conference Centre (ICCS) and will be attended by Vice-President Joseph Belmont, in his capacity as Minister for Tourism.

The other committee members are Ahmed Afif (Siba), Bernard Pool (SCCI), Louis D'Offay (SHTA), David Savy (Air Seychelles), Freddy Karkaria (TSS), Rose-Marie Hoareau (Qatar Airways), Syed Naqi (Bankers Association), Paul Hodoul (Choa), Marc Hoareau (MCA), Guilly Fideria (Divers Association), Conrad Benoiton (SCAA), Emmanuel D'Offay (Nac), Selby Dora (Min. Education and Youth), John Stravens (U-First), Davidson Madeleine (Taxi Operators Association), Richard Mancienne (Boat House Restaurant), Francis Savy (Youth Enterprise), Guy Roucou (Police) and Dick Esparon (Chair Parliamentary Tourism Committee).

According to a press release from the Ministry of Tourism "The role of the Tac will be to advise the government and STB (Seychelles Tourism Board) on the planning and development of the industry."
The need to address a wide variety of issues and to include a range of industry "stakeholders" are cited as the reasons for the establishment of the committee.
The Tac is expected to work on a review of the Vision 21 tourism policy document.
