During the same ceremony, held at the Victoria Hospital, retired nurse Jeanine Chung- Faye donated a batch of breast pumps to the Maternity Ward of the Victoria Hospital.

Both donations were handed over to Health principal secretary Maurice Loustau-Lalanne by Nars' chairperson Inese Freminot and Mrs Chung-Faye.

Also present at the ceremony were the Minister for Health & Social Services Vincent Meriton, members of Nars and other nurses.

After receiving the sewing machine from Mrs Freminot, Mr Loustau-Lalanne in turn handed it over to the nurse in charge of the North East Point Hospital, Marie-Antoinette Hoareau, who is also the Vice Chairperson of Nars.

Miss Hoareau said that the sewing machine was given to their association as a gift one year back and they have decided to in turn give it to the North East Point Hospital which was in need of the machine.

She said that it will help some patients in their therapy.

This year's International Nurses Day was celebrated under the theme " Nurses for patient safety: targeting counterfeit and substandard medicines".
