Cycling-Mougal triumphs in 100-km race as PLS Riders suffer from Mathieu’s absence |17 May 2005

After Mathieu, who is back in France with the Blois-CAC 41 team, won two of the three races and helped teammate Roniel Fanny win the third, PLS Riders could not get any of their riders on the podium of last Saturday’s 100-km road race sponsored by Mohan Shopping Centre.

Vélo Club de Mahé’s Roy Mougal, who enjoys these marathon races, won in a time of 2 hours 58 minutes 57 seconds (2h58:57) for an average speed of 33.528 kilometres per hour (km/h).

In second position was St Francis’ Alex Savy in 2h58:59 followed in third place by Bertrand Lesperance of Vélo Club de Mahé with the same time.

Roniel Fanny was PLS Riders’ first cyclist to cross the finish line in seventh place with a clocking of 3h02:40.

With fourth place overall in 2h58:59, Jean-Pierre Low-Hong won the best junior rider title in front of Vélo Club de Mahé’s Leeroy Labiche who had won the age category titles in the previous three races.

PLS Riders also lost their best team title, finishing a distant third with a cumulative time of 9h13:21, more than 12 minutes slower than the time (9h00:34) registered by the Vélo Club de Mahé team. St Francis finished second with 9h00:36.

With an average speed of 36.185 km/h, France Anacoura easily brought his number of wins to four by triumphing in the 41-km race for cadet riders in a time of 1h07:59.

Second was Ricky Servina in 1h20:54, the same time clocked by third place finisher Uriy Farabeau.
