Qatar Airways donates urology equipment to Victoria Hospital

Ms Hoareau and PS Loustau-Lalanne views the equipment

Qatar Airways area manager Rose-Marie Hoareau presented the equipment worth 78,000 euros (R569,000) to the health principal secretary Maurice Loustau-Lalanne in a small ceremony on Tuesday at the Victoria Hospital.

Ms Hoareau has said that the donation is Qatar Airways’ way of giving back to the local community. She added that it is the airline’s duty to contribute to communities served by  Qatar Airways and at the same time share the company’s success with the local people.

After accepting the donation, PS Loustau-Lalanne thanked the management of Qatar Airways for the much needed urology equipment which, he said, “would surely help to better the service being offered at the operating theatre.”
The equipment, he said, would allow patients suffering from cancer and other kidney disorders to be treated locally.

Noting that over the years local airline Air Seychelles has helped the Victoria Hospital and its patients tremendously, PS Lousteau-Lalanne said that the ministry was pleased to add Qatar Airways to its list of sponsors.

According surgeon Loren Reginald, the equipment will help detect stones in the kidneys of patients and determine whether a patient is suffering from prostate cancer.

Present at the ceremony were other officials from the health department as well as doctors and nurses.
