Basketball: League Championship-Premium Cobras cruise to victory ahead of pulsating fixture |21 May 2005

At Victoria Gymnasium, coach Steve Hoareau’s Premium Cobras were in winning mood and they went into the first quarter with all guns blazing, outscoring last year’s Men division 1B champions SMB Razorback 31-7 en route to a 91-57 win.

Although SMB Razorback won the second and fourth quarters 19-17 and 20-19, defending Men division 1A champions Premium Cobras did not have to worry because they also claimed the third period 24-12.

Centre Lenny ‘Bad’ Aglaé carried Premium Cobras’ scoring load with a game-high 32 points, while the other two starters in  the champions’ front court – Nigerian Reuben Kolawole and captain James Beier - added 13 points apiece.

Coach Hoareau rotated his line-up and only Garry Duprès failed to score as Premium Cobras’ bench was outscored 25-17 by that of SMB Razorback.

As for SMB Razorback’s coach Pascal Fostel, his starters made a contribution of 32 points compared to the 74 achieved by Beier, Algaé, Cyril Agrippine and company.

Jean-Paul Camille paced SMB Razorback with 14 points, one more than centre Alex Baron. Nigel Cafrine was SMB Razorback’s only other player in double figures with 11 points.

SMB Razorback have just one win after completing their seven-match first round.
