Subios Splash draws large crowd

A canoe manoeuvring session starts as the young citizens cheer

Seychelles underwater habitats were brought to the shores in beautiful paintings and writings made by both children and adults and through a number of films and still images projected on a big screen set up at the Subios Village.

The village came to life late on Friday May 20 (afternoon) with the opening of a creative art exhibition. The highlights on Saturday were a bazaar selling various well-made items depicting the colours of our marine ecosystems, such as jewellery, wooden crafts, T-shirts and pareos. There were boat rides in the bay, glass bottom boat trips and canoe manoeuvring sessions.

A group of over 70 Young Citizens from Mont Fleuri also turned out to participate in beach activities.
Later in the evening there were open air presentations of videos and photos shot by divers who had participated in the festival, ending with a film later in the night entitled Jungle Blue  produced by Mr John Boyle, a diver and also the international coordinator of Subios.

The Splash continued on Sunday with a swimming competition and swimming lessons for all those interested.

The activities ended well past eight in the evening with a fashion show by model from the Mangouya Studio which saw the emergence from under water of mermaids, sea goddesses and beautiful local girls clad in colourful tropical wears strutting their stuff on the beach.

A moutia on the beach added more fervour to the ambience.
