Chess-Benjamin Hoareau and younger siblings win |27 May 2005

Reigning male chessler of the year Hoareau won all his five games.
Second was Ryan Constance with four wins, third Dominique Furneau with three and fourth Michel Zialor also with three victories.

Petrina Valentin finished as the best female chessler with fifth place overall after collecting three wins like Furneau and Zialor.

Dericka Figaro, Jonathan Mellon, Gervais Cupidon and Sam Valentin were sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth respectively.
Meanwhile, the winners of the National Under-16 competition were the Figaros – sister Dericka and brother Alfred.

They happen to be the younger siblings of male champion Benjamin Hoareau, meaning that chess runs in the family for the three chesslers.

Gervais Cupidon and Carl Etienne were second and third in the boy’s category, while Tina Lespoir and Cindy Etienne finished as runner-up and third place finisher in the girl’s division.

The competition was played on a double round-robin format with players meeting each other twice.
Both tournaments were held at the St Louis community centre.
