Golf: Plantation Club Resort & Casino tournament-Micock/Mondon duo wins |20 October 2006

On the first day Saturday, all teams tried to get fewer shots as possible so as to be in a good position for Sunday’s final. The pair of Jocelyn Ah-Yu and Zee Rizvi was the leader after the first day with 62, followed in second place by the duo of Alix and Pascal Esparon, Francis Mondon and Eddie Micock, and Joe Andrade and Patrick Asba, all on 63.

Sunday’s leg of the competition started at 7.45 a.m. and there was no clear favourites. After registering a net 29 on the front nine, the team of Francis Mondon, the general manager of The Plantation Club Resort & Casino, and Eddie Micock were in the lead. It was as if Micock and Mondon were firing on all cylinders.

The Ah-Yu/Rizvi team were not far behind with 31 net but the pair of Hevens Andrade and Louis Vandagne, who was not in the reckoning on Saturday, matched the score of 29 to put the heat on the leaders.

Aware that there were three teams breathing down their neck, Micock and Mondon stepped up their game to play according to their strategy. Micock played one of his best golf while Mondon did his best for them to come in with 30 for a total of 122.
Vandagne and Andrade finished second, while Joe Andrade and Patrick Asba settled for third place.

The prizes were presented to the winners by Mr Mondon, the general manager of The Plantation Club Resort & Casino. As for club captain Peter Moncherry, he thanked the sponsors.
