Golf-Seychelles Golf Club elects new captain and Committee |12 July 2007

Sunil Shah was elected as Captain for the year 2007-2008. Dr. Zia Rizvi is the club’s treasurer while Francis Mondon will serve as secretary.

Other members of the new committee are Charles Morin, Alix Esparon, Johnny Savy, Captain Simon Dine and Winsel Pothin.

Shah, Morin, Esparon, Rizvi and Savy have earlier served as captains of the Golf Club whilst Dine and Pothin have worked on the committee before.

Mr Shah thanked the members for the confidence entrusted in him and his committee and said that he is looking forward to serve the Golf Club once again.

He added that now it is an exciting time for golf in Seychelles with the recent announcement of a new 18-hole golf course to be built on Mahé. He added that it would be the endeavor of his team to attract new members to the Club.

They also have to do their best to keep the old course at Anse Aux Pins going as this is the only public course in the country.

On behalf of the members he expressed his gratitude to the current owners of the course, Guinness and Seychelles Breweries, for their kind assistance and support to the Golf Club and hoped that this would continue.
