Cricket: Amusement Centre Cup Final – Eden Island Kings v Luckstars-Eden Island Kings – bold and beautiful

Action from the Eden Island Kings/Luckstars final

Having lost the toss, the Kings were put in to field by Luckstars – often referred to as their bogey team. It didn’t take long for the Kings to showcase their talent as they quickly dismissed both the openers of Luckstars – Aruna and Nilantha – with only four runs on the board.

It was a case of struggling for survival for Luckstars’ batsmen who followed, as wickets kept tumbling at regular interval, thanks to the Kings’ find of the season – bowler Ajay – who finished with figures of 4 wickets from 4 overs. Luckstars were finally bowled out for only 108 runs in the 23rd over.

Setting out to chase down the total, Kings’ batsmen didn’t get off to a good start as they lost opener Krishna Naidoo in the 3rd over for 6 runs. Hari, last year’s cricketer of the year, and Sean were also dismissed very quickly. Luckstars, by now, were beginning to fancy their chances.

However, the script had already been written for this final and Kings batsmen Sanjay and Esar were in no mood for any alteration.

Sanjay fought for a well-deserved 41 runs not out, on his way lashing five boundaries including a huge six. Esar also remained undefeated on 29. The duo saw their side home and achieved the total in 21 overs.
Having won the first cup this year, Eden Island Kings are all set for a cup hunt this season.
