Letter to the Editor-RodolphineYoung Awards for Children’s Literature |17 May 2008

While it is a very good initiative and encouraging to note progression within our small island state, as a fan of Maggie Faure-Vidot I feel that the information in the table is not correct with regard to her international achievements.

With due respect I have for all other writers, I wish to bring to your attention that Maggie Faure-Vidot published a poetry collection ‘Un Grand Coeur Triste’ with la Pensee Universelle de Paris in 1983. This collection was never subject to an award of Honor in 1986. She also published ‘L’ame Errante’ with Printec of Seychelles some five years ago.

She started to win international awards from 1983 to 2007 and as far as I know she was discerned six silver medals among others (Coupe de la Ville de Paris from Jacques Chirac, Lyre d’honneur, Medaille de bronze, mention speciale, mention de participation, medaille d’honneur), the last silver being in 2006.
She has contributed more than what was published.
