Table tennis -Chinese professionals dominate knockout competition |19 July 2008

In the open tournament organised by the Seychelles Table Tennis Association all players competed against each other in the male and female categories.

Chen Zeng was the men’s overall winner, beating Jiangchuan 4-2 (11-7, 11-9, 8-11, 8-11, 11-4, 11-4) in the final.
In the women’s final, Xiadong Lu had a match on her hands against local hard-hitter Aniessa Benstrong, but eventually came out on top 4-2. The set scores were 11-8, 17-19, 11-7, 11-9, 3-11 and 11-5.

The Chinese team from the Beijing Sports University will also take part in the July Monthly Challenge competition tomorrow.
Their visit coincides with the youth team’s preparation for the forthcoming Indian Ocean Youth and Sports Commission (CJSOI) games.
They will leave the country on Saturday July 26.
