Elena Angione is Miss Seychelles Islands 2008

The 22-year-old was crowned Miss Seychelles Islands 2008 on Saturday night on the premises of the Tequila Boom Discotheque, which was hosting the event for the first time.

Miss Angione fought off fierce competition from 16 other girls to win the crown, hence becoming the third winner of the Miss Seychelles Islands beauty contest since its re-launch in 2006.   

A personal assistant by profession, Miss Angione also won the Miss Personality accolade during the contest, for which she won a full entertainment package sponsored by Intelvision.

As Miss Seychelles Islands, she received SR20,000 sponsored by Bonjour Seychelles, a Elena Angione, the newly crowned Miss Seychelles Islands 2008jewelry set sponsored by Kreolor, air ticket sponsored by Air Seychelles, a special package of perfume sponsored by Bonjour, various vouchers to spend weekends and dine in restaurants across the country, and free entrance for one year at Tequila Boom.

Second to Miss Angione was the reigning Miss Ile de Palme, Praslinois Sophia Marie, who also won the Miss Photogenic and Miss Popularity titles, in addition to being judged as wearing the Best Evening Gown.

As first princess, the Praslinois received SR10,000 sponsored by Le Meridien Barbarons, a jewelry set from Kreolor, air ticket to South Africa sponsored by Home Accessories, weekends for two and dinners in local hotels and restaurants, a special package of perfume from Bonjour as well as free entrance to Tequila Boom for a year.

In addition, Miss Marie pocketed SR5000 as Miss Popularity, plus SR1000 for having the best gown and a full entertainment package from Intelvision as Miss Photogenic.

The Miss Popularity title was voted by members of the public who had to contribute SR10 for doing so. In all SR5000 was raised and that sum was awarded to the winner.

Trainee teacher Nathalie Domingue was voted the second princess at the contest. Sister to Solana, the outgoing Miss Seychelles Islands 2007, Miss Domingue (Nathalie) also won the prize for Best Body, for which she received a dinner for two voucher at the Le Meridien Barbarons.

As the second runner-up, she won SR5000 sponsored by Le Meridien, a jewelry set, air ticket to Mauritius, vouchers for stay and dinners in local hotels and restaurants, perfumes sponsored by Bonjour and the automatic one-year free entrance at the Tequila Boom.

The other individual title – Best Costume -- awarded on the night went to finalist Nathalie Elizabeth. She received SR1000 for the win, sponsored by the organisers.
The pageant was held under the theme: Les couleurs des iles.
