The gathering on March 17 was also attended by a delegation of Seychellois trade partners who were in Moscow for the annual Russian tourism trade fair, the MITT.

Addressing the press conference, Air Seychelles’ chief executive Dr Rajiv Bissesseur reassured Russian partners that the airline will continue to enhance and develop cooperation with Russian tour operators and will continue to deliver an excellent Creole Spirit service at a competitive price.

He also said Air Seychelles is working to consolidate the Russian market for its Seychellois partners and hopes to introduce, in due course, a second flight to Moscow.

Seychelles’ director of tourism marketing Alain St Ange said: “This new cooperation between Air Seychelles and Fourthtour joins the list of the positive new developments that are taking place in Seychelles.

“This new air service comes a time when our islands are launching the new ‘affordable Seychelles’ marketing campaign to boost the country’s tourism industry as it offers our visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the islands at a once-in-a-lifetime price.”

In his address, Mishanin Vladimir, from the Russian Civil Aviation Authority, officially welcomed Air Seychelles to Russia, saying the new service to Moscow was a necessity for Russian holidaymakers.

This message was echoed by Greidin Mikhail, of the Russian Vnukovo Airport, who said his company would remain a partner of Air Seychelles.

The last speakers to address the meeting were Alferov Yuri, chairman of Fourthtour, and Anna Butler-Payette, of 7 Degrees South, who recalled the discussions that led to their working with Air Seychelles to launch the direct link to Moscow.
