Darts-Vidot spears Hermitte for Association singles tournament victory

And on Saturday at the Cascade community centre, the Premium Throws’ player won the Association singles winner VidotAssociation singles tournament.

After a bright start with victory in the first game against Barclay Ami Darts’ Justin Hermitte in the best-of-seven final, Vidot dropped the second.

But Hermitte’s fightback didn’t last long as Vidot settled himself and recovered to win the next three games to succeed Straight Arrows’ Lambert Monthy, who did not try to defend his title.

Vidot earned the right to be in the final after not dropping a single game in the best-of-three quarterfinals and best-of-five semifinals, with wins over Terrance Hallock and Bernard Berlouis.

Like champion Vidot, losing finalist Hermitte had a clean sheet in the quarters and semis, defeating Jack Micock 2-0 and Keven Furneau 3-0.

Fourteen players registered and took part in the competition, split into two pools of seven from which eight players went on to take their places in the quarterfinals.

Mike Rachel of the Premium Throws team registered the highest finish of 180 – the highest score in darts – and Vidot hit the highest bull finish of 101.

The 34-year-old, who said after his curtain-raiser win that his aim this year was to win the best player title, was ecstatic after his weekend win.

“It was quite an easy final,” he said.
