Emergency brigades boost training to meet disasters |15 May 2009

The three-day camp is being run at Bel Ombre community centre by the Emergency Brigades Steering Committee, in collaboration with the Red Cross Society of Seychelles and the Department of Risk and Disaster Management.

This training for brigade members in the North and Central regions is the first in a series, to be followed later this year by camps in the East/Central, Inner Islands and South/West regions.

Such training is recommended in the districts’ emergency contingency plans and has as its main aim to reinforce members’ capability to deal with any disaster or emergency that may happen.

Throughout the three days, at least 50 people will camp on site while trainers lead theory and practical sessions in community first aid and shelter management.
