Golf-Prea wins May Barclays mug

Winner Prea (centre) poses with Mr Sidambaram of Barclays Bank (right) and club captain Richard D’Offay

On a hot and humid day last Saturday, a very large field took to the course to battle it out once again for the prestigious mug.

As usual, Charlie Morin led in the first nine on gross with a 32, but Prea had a net 29.

On the second nine, Morin, who usually plays his best golf in this monthly competition, played a gross one under par for a total of 65 gross (63 net). This would have been a winning score normally, and a confident Morin started celebrating.

Then in came Prea. Despite his four over par gross (31 net), he shocked Morin when he wrote his score of net 60 – a rare winning score.

Third was Alix Esparon, who is playing his best golf these days, with a score of 64. Esparon too thought he was the winner before he read the scoreboard.

The prizes were presented to the winners by Barclays Bank (Seychelles) managing director Loganaden Sidambaram.

The club wishes to thank Barclays for its continued support to the Seychelles Golf Club. Barclays Bank has been sponsoring this monthly competition for well over 15 years.
