Public speaking competition-Plaisance and Beau Vallon winners |20 June 2009
Organised annually by the National Olympic Academy of Seychelles – an arm of the Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (Socga) and held recently, this year’s theme was ‘The contribution of sport in the present economic crisis’.
Plaisance, comprising chairperson Joanne Rath (58.5 points), main speaker Emily Désir (58.5 points), and Shannen Philoé as the proposer of the vote of thanks (57.5 points) amassed 174.5 points.
Pointe Larue finished second with 10 points less (164.5 points), while Anse Royale completed the honours list with third position (148.5 points).
The other four teams who took part in the primary category were Beau Vallon (146 points), Anse Etoile (144), Glacis (143) and Anse Aux Pins (126).
Chairperson Emma Cadeau (57 points), main speaker Esmée Jumeau (57.5 points) and Marlon Esparon (proposer of the vote of thanks with 58 points) teamed up to give Beau Vallon victory in the secondary division with 172.5 points.
Pointe Larue (159.5 points), Plaisance (157.5), La Digue (153.5), Belonie (150), Anse Royale (143) and Praslin (131.5).
