Seychellois Baldwin gets triathlon podium finish

The 20-year-old, who is from Anse Kerlan, Praslin, completed the gruelling race in five hours, 10 minutes (5h10) for third place while carrying a Seychelles flag.

Competitors had to swim 1.2 miles, bike 56 miles and run 13.1 miles non-stop.

Baldwin, who attended the International School and is now studying business economics and French at Cardiff University, UK, is one of the youngest competitors in this gruelling sport.

He will represent Seychelles at the Ironman Austria on July 5, where he will swim 2.4 miles in open water, followed by a 112-mile bike ride and finally a full marathon (a 26.2- mile run).

Triathlon is one of the most testing sporting events on earth and is one of the fastest growing in the world. Athletes have 17 hours to complete the 140.6-mile race.
