New brochures in drive to save water and electricity |05 July 2010

Of the five brochures published, four give information about conserving electricity, while the fifth is dedicated to saving water. The brochures are available in English, with Creole versions to follow shortly, and apart from tips on economising there are facts about how much water and electricity home appliances use.

The electricity brochures in English are now available at the PUC’s customer services and cashier unit in Victoria, on Praslin and La Digue. The water brochure will be available soon.

The PUC has published brochures in the past, the difference with this series being that each brochure is specific to certain areas and activities in the home.

The brochure called Inside Your Kitchen, for example, has advice on how to reduce electricity consumption when storing, defrosting, warming and cooking food, while Doing Your Laundry focuses on washing, drying and ironing clothes.

All the brochures focus on making best use of home appliances and give a guide on how to choose the most efficient ones when buying them.

Customers will learn facts such as the amount of electricity their TV sets consume when they are kept on standby, and which appliances use the most electricity in their homes.

The PUC will continue to produce brochures that help to raise awareness among customers and improve communication with them.
