Football-Andrew Amers-Morrison stays on as Seychelles coach |16 December 2010

It made the announcement in a press release sent to media houses yesterday, saying the decision was taken after coach Amers-Morrison appeared before the SFF executive committee on Tuesday to clarify his position regarding an identity issue.

In the press release, the SFF added that coach Amers-Morrison is on six months’ probation and, as is common practice, his performance will be assessed and evaluated during that period.

It adds that at no time has the SFF or any of its officers made any statement in respect of the identity of Mr Amers-Morrison.

The confusion, continued the press release, arose from articles in local newspapers which mistook Amers-Morrison for former Manchester City and Scottish professional centre-half Andrew Charles ‘Andy’ Morrison.

The information was later picked up by the Northwich Guardian newspaper of England and by the SFF website.

The SFF added that on September 15, 2010 – two days after signing his contract with the SFF – coach Amers-Morrison told the local football body about the false information on its website and asked for it to be rectified.

He even provided the SFF with his own website www.sambastreetsoccer.com but unfortunately, due to an administrative oversight by the SFF, this was not followed through.
