Namibia looks to widen cooperation with Seychelles

Mr Kapewasha in discussion with President Michel after he had presented his credentials

Marten Kapewasha said this yesterday after he presented his credentials to President James Michel at State House to become Namibia’s second high commissioner to Seychelles.

He said he hopes the two countries will expand their economic cooperation and share training experiences.

“Seychelles has wider experience in fisheries, and we hope you will be able to help Namibia in our marine resources training,” he said.

He said his talks with Mr Michel also focused on information technology and communication.

Namibia now holds the chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community and hopes to use that position to help in the fight against piracy.

Mr Kapewasha and Mr Michel also looked at the “worrying situation in northern Africa” and said they hope the African Union will be able to help find a solution to the crises.
