Golf: April Barclays monthly mug-Young guns Morin and Shah shine

The weather was not conducive for a game of golf. It was so scalding hot and very humid that a few players dehydrated and had to stop.

But this did not affect Morin, son of well-known golfer Charlie Morin, and Shah, who shot 40 and 43 gross respectively on the front nine.

Not to be outdone, Shah banked on his experience to better his score on the back nine with 42 as another 43 would have put him out of the race.

As for Morin, who has been practising during the week with his friend Axel Andrade, he must have lost concentration as his back nine was not as good as his front nine. He carded a 47 on the back nine.

On total gross, Shah would have won but winners are judged on net after taking away the handicap. With a higher handicap, Morin finished with 65 net compared to Shah’s 66. Third with a net 67 was Alix Esparon.

The prizes were presented by Barclays Bank’s head of customer services Dinaz Van der Lanz.
