Only four players on the Seychelles team – Georgie Cupidon, Steve Malcouzane, Cynthia Course and Alisen Camille – played and they beat their Mozambican opponents in all five matches – men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

In the men’s singles, Malcouzane beat his opponent 2-0 (21-16, 21-9), while in the women’s singles, Course dominated her Mozambican opponent 2-0 (21-8, 21-10).

Malcouzane was in action again in the men’s doubles where he paired with Cupidon to beat a Mozambican duo 2-0 (21-13, 21-6).

Seychelles’ other victories were in the women’s doubles where Camille and Course beat their opponents 2-0 (21-6, 21-5) and in the mixed doubles where the Cupidon and Camille duo thrashed the Mozambican pair 2-0 (21-4, 21-4).

In form Cupidon told Sports Nation they are taking every match seriously as only one team will advance to the semifinal from the groups.

“Our target is to finish top in our group which also features Uganda,” he said.
The Seychelles team were to meet Uganda in their second group match yesterday.

The two other members of the Seychelles team are Danielle Jupiter and Kervin Ghislain.
