Police urge respect for public places |14 September 2011

The appeal follows reports and complaints about the misuse of the View Point site at Upper La Louise.

The police are reminding the general public that such location is a public place and that contravention will be taken against any individual who violates the Public Order Act.

For some time now, members of public have been complaining of loud and explicit music being played while they have been at that place with their family.

Others have made it a habit of going there, especially on weekends, to drink alcohol.
“There have also been signs of littering and even vandalism. Even dogs have been spotted roaming around the bin searching for leftovers thrown away all over the place,” the police have said.

“As its name denotes, this place is highly frequented by both locals and tourists because of its strategic location where one can enjoy the panoramic view of Eden Island and nearby islands, including Praslin and La Digue,” the police noted.

The authorities are appealing to the general public to refrain from carrying out undesirable activities which can damage the reputation of View Point, a spot adopted by Eden Island Resorts last year.
