Handball: Mohan women’s and men’s league-Super 8 and MF Storm lead the chase

Super 8 and Durantha Brothers are currently the two best teams in the men’s league

Formerly known as Rybar, MF Storm look good to retain their league crow after walking over APC Sisters last weekend for their sixth win in as many matches for a maximum 18 points.

This was the second time APC Sisters failed to turn up for a match and they are a place before last on the six-team table with six points.

AR Queen, who walked over PLS Hurricanes Sisters  in their last outing, are in second place with 13 points and can close in on MF Storm with a win against Teenz today.

Teenz are currently in fourth place with nine points after two wins, a draw and two losses, and their latest win was against RC Girls on a 25-21 score.

With the same win-draw-lose record of 2-1-2 as Teenz and the same number of points, RC Girls are in third place thanks to a superior goal difference of -8 compared to Teenz’ -40.

In the men’s league, defending champions Super 8 are at the top of the eight-team table with 19 points after six wins and a draw in seven games.

Player/coach Danny Philoé and company won their last match 40-21 against AC Brothers and they should have no problem getting their seventh win against mid-table Young Eagles today.

Former champions Durantha Brothers collected two wins against Tiger HB (34-23) and PLS Hurricanes (31-28) in their last two games and are second with 18 points for five wins, two draws and a defeat.

PLS Hurricanes, who beat AC Brothers 36-33 and lost 28-31 to Durantha Brothers in their last two outings, are currently third on the table with 17 points.

PLS Hurricanes and Durantha Brothers could exchange places in the standings today when they clash in today’s third fixture scheduled to start at 12 noon at the Palais des Sports.

Young Eagles (15 points after four wins, a draw and two defeats), AC Brothers (13 points after three wins, a draw and three defeats), Tiger HB (11 points after three wins and four defeats including two through walkover), RC Boys (11 points after two wins and five defeats) and APC Brothers (7 points after seven defeats) are occupying fourth to eighth positions on the table.
