Football-Local referees, instructors to attend international courses |28 September 2011

Referee Emile Fred, assistant referees Walter Underwood and Eldrick Adelaide, and Exco member Danny Poiret as national supervisor will take part in an 11-day training from October 31 to November 10 in Nyon, Switzerland.

The Union of European Football Association (UEFA) Exco decided last year to create a UEFA Centre of Refereeing Excellence in Nyon and establish a refereeing programme for promising young referees and assistant referees.

Those attending the course must be aged between 25 and 30 and should already be officiating at national level and showing the potential to become Fédération international de football association (Fifa) officials within the next few years.

The Seychellois trio of referees and the national supervisor is one of 10 teams outside Europe invited to take part in the training.

The Seychelles Football Federation will cover the airfares, while the organisers will take care of the other expenses.

Meanwhile, advanced referee technical instructors Roch Henriette and Lewis Madeleine, referee fitness instructor Gonzague Boniface, and head of refereeing in Seychelles Eddie Maillet will take part in Fifa Futuro 111 referees’ courses in Swaziland from October 16-25.
