Seychelles, Senegal elected as Africa delegates to UNWTO sustainable tourism committee |14 October 2011

This took place at the 19th session of the UNWTO general assembly being held at Gyeongju in Korea.

The Senegalese minister responsible for Tourism, Thierno Lo, and the chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB), Alain St. Ange, headed their respective delegations at this meeting where sustainable tourism was a point raised by many member countries in their addresses during the assembly’s plenary sessions.

Africa is a continent that realises that it will not have a tourism industry unless it is sustainable.

Seychelles and Senegal as its delegates elected to the UNTWO sustainable tourism committee have been mandated to ensure that the development and practices being undertaken today does not happen at the expense of tomorrow.
